Abstract

When the question arises what a Web 2.0 based Personal Learning Environment (PLE) looks like the answer increasingly refers to the personal environment concept of iGoogle. The concept of widgets and gadgets is currently dominating the discussion of ideas supporting PLEs. Also in the ROLE project1 we experiment with this concept and optimised ROLE widgets2 to be easily integrated in iGoogle. In this paper it will be reflected to what extend iGoogle is actually useful. The question is put in the context of formal higher education at universities. Moreover the question it put in the context of a Master study course that is generally supported by a Wiki-based Learning Environment.3
